We must confess: we have a love-and-hate relationship with advent calendars. That's because some claim to be worth "hundreds of pounds" when all you get is a bunch of hand creams in sample size. Then, there is the fact that you can't choose the products either, which makes you get something you may already have. We're not all hate when it comes to these beauty offers because some might be worth the hype. Here are the calendars that caught our attention this year for good and bad:
We all know that CT products are expensive, but this year's advent calendar disappointed us. It claims to be worth £245 even though a good part of the products are minis. If you are a CT fan, this is a great option to try a few items or a lovely Christmas gift but not the best value for travel-size products. We love the lip oil and the liquid highlighter will last you a lifetime, but these are the only items that make us excited from this advent calendar.
We are so excited that Sephora is finally landing in the UK. Not only will we get to try amazing new brands, but their advent calendar has many full-size products. There are also some top-tier brands like Augustinus Bader and Natasha Denona. They claim it's worth a whooping £711, and for the £139 it's actually worth it. We read a few reviews about it and customers seem to be loving it so this is definitely a great option this year.
We know you might think: £250, really? Well, this advent calendar is worth £1200 and it comes with a facial voucher for a treatment at La Praire. You also get the best of luxury beauty with brands like Carolina Herrera, Dr Barbara Strum, Creme de la Mer and Hourglass. You get 34 products, but only 12 are full-sized. Still, if you are willing to splurge, this is your best option.
If you are looking for a very good value advent calendar you have found it. This has a lot of hair products, which we love, cool candles (great for gifting) and aromatherapy. This is a complete set with tools, hair and skincare but not so many makeup items. We still love this because it would be a complete self-care set to gift someone.
